{A Redhead’s Review} Natural Empathy Luxury Candle & J-rub massage oil

There is nothing I love more than a bit of pampering, relaxing in a candle lit room and having a therapeutic massage to ease away my achy shoulders and shift neck. I try to go for a professional massage as often as possible. However if you, like me, sit all day hunched over a computer (and blocking out the memory of your mum’s voice telling you to sit up straight), then you will have most likely felt that niggling feeling up your neck and across your shoulders, so a little TLC more often is usually needed.

My lovely and ‘dutiful’ fiancé has the wonderful job of trying to ease those aches and pains, usually on a weekly basis, or sometimes twice a week if I whine about it often enough. Therefore having a good massage oil and the right ambience for relaxing in is a must have in our house.

So when the lovely people at Crystal Spring offered to send me their J-rub massage oil and a luxury candle to try*, I eagerly accepted and couldn’t wait to use them and have another excuse to have an at home massage.

Natural Empathy Sweet Orange, Geranium & Chamomile Luxury Natural Candle (RRP £25.00)
When I received both items the first thing I noticed when I opened the box was the explosion of scent that billowed out, courtesy of the Natural Empathy candle and wow what a scent it was. You know how people say a taste tantalised their taste buds, well this smell tantalised my nose completely. The beautiful fragrance is created using a blend of over 20 essential oils including geranium, sweet orange and chamomile and even when not lit it fills the room with its lovely aroma.

The candle is also available in another fragrance, wild fig and patchouli, which according to the Crystal Spring website brings a sweet, earthy aroma to uplift and calm the senses – sounds blissful.

The Natural Empathy candle really is a bit of luxury in a box. At £25 it is a little more expensive than I would normally pay myself for a candle, but if I was buying it as a gift I think it would be the perfect present, and after using it and being bowled over by the smell I think my bank balance will stretch to this little bit of luxury more often.

Its natural credentials:
All ingredients in the candle’s natural wax are made from sustainable and renewable annual crops. The wick is lead free and made from natural fibre, and the candle is also free from petroleum and paraffin.

The look
The candle comes in a lovely pink box and a pretty glass tumbler, which unfortunately before I got a chance to photograph, was accidentally dropped and chipped, hence the use of Crystal Springs product shot from their website. The tumbler isn’t flimsy at all, but my storage ability is am afraid!

However this hasn’t stopped me from using it and it’s been burning brightly in our house now for well over a month. According to the packaging the candle has a 60 hr burn time. I’m not sure how many hours I have used it for but after many uses I still have many many more to go.

J-rub Original Massage Oil Spray (RRP £19.99)
I love massage oils, we have lots at home including ESPA body oils and essential oils such as ylang ylang and lavender oil, so I couldn’t wait to try the J-rub massage oil, which also promised to soothe away aches and pains.

The spray is very easy to use and one great thing about it is that it’s not messy at all. The oil absorbs into the skin quickly, which is great because it doesn’t leave your skin feeling all slimy and instead it’s left smooth and soft. The one thing I did notice, is that my other half had to stop several times to spray on more because of how quickly it absorbed, but I would rather have that than being left with a layer of oily skin at the end.

Its natural credentials
It has a beautiful natural fragrance, which isn’t overpowering and contains natural antioxidants. Its blend of ingredients include Prunus Dulcis, Helianthus Annuus, Triticum Vulgare, Pinus Sylvestris, Persea Gartatissima, Lavendula Augustifolia, Juniperus Communis, Cedrus Atlantica, Pelargonium Graveolens, Rosmarinus Officinalis, Origanum Marjorana, Thymus Vulgaris, Melaleuca Quinquenervi, Pinus Sylvestris.

I am a huge fan of Crystal Spring and their natural products including Salt of the Earth Crystal Deodorant and their Pure Aura scented deodorant which I have both reviewed, so these two products to try were both greatly received and well used and also made me love Crustal Spring even more.

What’s your favourite essential oil for massage and do you have a candle you love the smell of?

*These items where sent to me to try. All opinions are my own and I have tested these products thoroughly before reviewing.
